Who can use Go Active Online Bookings?

This service is available to all customers who are currently in possession of a valid membership or Access Card card, regardless of what that card is for. It includes Paying and Non-Paying Members.

Users are required to register their interest at your local Go Active centre prior to your first use of the Online system to ensure we have all the current and accurate details to allow the system to recognise the specific member and you should read the site terms and conditions before registering.

How do I register for the service?

Register a new account:

From the homepage, select the Register link located on the top right hand side of the page.

Fill out all of the fields on display. Please check the registration notes below if you are unsure of any entry.

Click Register.

Activate your account

An account activation email will be sent to the email address you entered during the setup, click on the link provided within the email. This will take you to the activation page.

  • Confirm the answer to your security question.
  • Enter and confirm your desired password.
  • Click Activate.

Congratulations, you are now logged on and ready to start making bookings.

Registration notes

Please ensure you use the same email address which Go Active hold on your personal records and that you check on a regular basis. In addition to the account activation email you will receive, this email address will also be used for payment confirmations and re-activation links in the event that you forget your password.

The card number you enter must match the one Go Active holds on record for you. If you experience problems with the registration process please check your record details with a Go Active Reception point.

You will find your card number on your Membership/Access card. The card number is 9 digits long and starts with number 1 or 2.

How do I log on?

  • Select the Log On link located in the top right hand side of any page on the site.
  • Enter your username and password.
  • Click Log On.

You can use the Remember me tick box to save your username for subsequent visits.

What do I do if I forget my username?

  • Navigate to the Log On page as normal.
  • Click on the Forgotten username link located directly above the Account Information box.
  • Enter the email address you registered with.
  • Click Request username reminder.

An email will be sent to the email address you entered during the setup, containing the username you registered with.

If you have also forgotten your password follow the instructions in the next section.

What do I do if I forget my password?

  • Navigate to the Log On page as normal.
  • Click on the Forgotten password link located directly above the Account Information box.
  • Enter your username and the email address you registered with.
  • Click Request re-activation link.

An account re-activation email will be sent to the email address you entered during the setup, click on the link provided within the email. This will take you to the activation page.

  • Confirm the answer to your security question.
  • Enter and confirm your new password.
  • Click Activate.

You are now logged on and ready to start making bookings.

How do I change my password?

  • Log on as normal.
  • Select the Change Password link located on the top right hand side of any page on the site.
  • Enter your current password.
  • Enter and confirm your new password. Please note that your new password must be at least 6 characters long.
  • Click Change Password.

How do I make an activity booking?

Search for an activity

Use the search facility located on the left hand side of the page to find the activity you wish to book.

  • First select the Activity option.
  • Select the required centre from the dropdown site list.
  • Select the activity you are looking for from the Activity dropdown list.
  • Select the Date. Clicking into this field will display a date selector from which you may choose the date you wish to make your booking on. Activities may be booked up to seven days in advance.
  • Amend the search From and To time parameters to suit your requirements.
  • Change the Duration of the booking to suit your requirements.
  • Click Search.

The results will appear in tabular form in the middle content part of the page.

Results are ordered by location then start time and also show the cost of the booking.

The browser retains the parameters of your last search until you log out. If you wish to start a new search, amend the parameters from the top down and re-click Search.

Add or remove items from the basket

  • Find the start time and location that you wish to book from the search results.
  • Click the Add to basket icon (in the last column) associated with that row.
  • A popup will display requiring you to select a sub-location (court) for your booking from the dropdown list of pre-set options available.
  • Select a sub-location then click OK.
  • The Shopping Basket page is displayed allowing you to review your item.

From here you can: start another search; empty the entire contents of your basket; remove individual items from your basket; or proceed to the check out to complete your booking.

  • To remove the entire contents of your basket click the Empty Basket link.
  • To remove individual items from your basket click the Remove item from basket icon next to the item you wish to remove.

A policy of allowing members up to 7 online activity bookings per day. A maximum of 10 items (activity or class bookings or a combination of the two) may be held in the basket at any one time day period. In line with current procedures bookings can only be made for up to 7 days in advance.

Complete the booking

  • Review the items in your basket.
  • Tick the I accept the terms and conditions checkbox. Read the terms and conditions if you have not already done so.
  • Click Checkout. Please note that you have 7 minutes from this point to secure and pay for your booking.
  • If your membership enables free access to the booking simply confirm the booking by clicking the Make Bookings link.
  • If you are required to pay for the booking click the Proceed to Payment link.

You will be taken to the St. Helens Council online payment portal. Follow the onscreen instructions to complete the payment for your activities.

On the final Payment Summary page please ensure you click Finish to finalise the booking process. You will then be returned to the Order Confirmation page within the Go Active Online Booking Service where you may view or print your booking confirmation.

An email will also be sent to the address you provided upon registration for the Go Active Online Booking service containing a link to the Order Confirmation page.

How do I make a class booking?

Search for a class

Use the search facility located on the left hand side of the page to find the class you wish to book.

It should be noted that not all classes or activities are available to be booked on line. The Online booking service does not reflect the full programme of activities through Go Active. Please review the website for a full and extensive class and activity timetable.

  • First select the Class option.
  • Select your chosen venue from the Site dropdown list on the left.
  • Select the name of the class you are looking for from the Activity dropdown list.
  • Select the Date. Clicking into this field will display a date selector from which you may choose the date you wish to make your booking on. Classes may be booked up to six days in advance. If this specific class is not available on the desired date it will default to the error statement denoting "No Availability..."
  • Amend the search From and To time parameters to suit your requirements.
  • Click Search.

The results will appear in the middle of the page.

The browser retains the parameters of your last search until you log out. If you wish to start a new search, amend the parameters from the top down and re-click Search.

How can I view my booking history?

When you log on to the site you will see the Account history tab directly underneath the Go Active Online Bookings banner, second from the left.

Click the Account history tab to view your booking history.

Use the search parameters at the top of the page to filter the results shown in the table underneath.

The tabs allow you to select the type of booking you wish to view. By default this is set to show All bookings but you may also filter your search for Activity, Class, Course or Unpaid bookings.

Underneath the tabs there is a dropdown list which allows you to select how far back you wish to view. By default this is set to the last month but can also be set to show the last two, three, six or twelve months or all your bookings.

Search results are ordered by date and time with the newest bookings towards the top of the table.

You can view and reprint booking confirmations for activities or classes booked through the Go Active Online Booking service by clicking on the individual activity entry. The booking confirmation will open in a new browser tab.

Bookings made in person within any Go Active venue will still show in the list but you will not be able to view or print a booking confirmation for these items.

How do I cancel a booking?

Non Members (Online Payment) - pre-booked Activity or Class: -

Please contact us in person by telephone or by using the "Contact Us" link at the top of the page or via the link on the website.

Members (Pre-booked activity included in membership): -

You may cancel a pre-booked activity online, using the Account history facility, provided that the activity has not commenced.

  • Click the Account history tab to view your booking history.
  • Use the tabs and dropdown list to locate the activity you wish to cancel.
  • Click the delete icon next to the activity name to cancel your booking.
  • The activity is removed from your booking history.

Members (pre-booked Fitness Class included in membership): -

You may cancel a pre-booked class place online, using the Account history facility, provided that the class has not commenced.

  • Click the Account history tab to view your booking history.
  • Use the tabs and dropdown list to locate the class you wish to cancel.
  • Click the delete icon next to the class name to cancel your place.
  • The class is removed from your booking history.

Please be aware that any classes you cancel are still counted as part of the maximum number of bookings you are allowed to make per day or week. At present cancelled classes do not appear in your Account History.

Who do I contact if I have a problem?

If you encounter a problem making a booking you can contact us in person, by telephone or by email using the link at the top of the page, via the "Contact Us" link on the website or by telephone

If possible you should provide the following details which can be found on your Booking Confirmation:

  • Member number
  • Booking reference number
  • Class or activity
  • Date and time of booking
  • A description of the problem

You should not respond to the auto-generated emails outlined in the above section.

Please note that whilst we aim to answer your emails within 48 hours, it is not always possible to do so. If you have an issue with an existing booking you are advised to contact the specific venue directly in person or by phone.

How do I check for messages?

From time to time Go Active may need to send you a message regarding one of your class or activity bookings.

When you log on to the site you will see the Messages tab directly underneath the Go Active Online Bookings banner, third tab from the left.

Unread messages will be indicated in brackets within the tab.

  • Click the Messages tab to access your messages.
  • Your messages are displayed in a table with the newest at the top.
  • Unread messages are indicated by a closed envelope icon.
  • Messages which have been read and stored are indicated by an open envelope.
  • Click on the subject heading to open the message.
  • The messages appear as a popup.
  • If you wish to keep the message for future reference select OK.
  • If you wish to delete the message select Delete.

How do I log off?

Select the Log Off link located above the Basket header which can be found on the right hand side of any page on the site when you are logged on.
